Another old favorite, this time with a restaurant break!
Who: Bryce, Kristen
We've been going to Douthat State Park in the Allegheny Mountains for years, generally picking a summer weekend to go with friends from Harrisonburg. When the kids were younger we'd spend a lot of time at the beachfront, and we'd usually find time for a hike. The trails at Douthat aren't anything spectacular, but we usually find time to walk around the lake.
The kids were off doing something (I think they were at the waterfront), so Kristen and I decided to walk around the lake. This year we discovered the restaurant. It has always been there, but we've never really eaten there - I like cooking over a fire when we're camping, and the restaurant food is nothing special. But the day was hot, and we were walking right by the restaurant, so we stopped in to get a cold drink and sit and enjoy the afternoon sun. We'll be doing that again the next time we go.
No pictures, but lots of memories.
